Digicel invests in women’s "EPIC" future | Loop Trinidad and Tobago

Women from Venezuelan immigrants and the local Trinidad community will benefit from the recent partnership between the Digicel Foundation, Living Water Community and Together WI.

Earlier this year, 35,000 baht of EPIC funds were donated to Together WI for the implementation of "Spool", a social enterprise program that teaches skill development in the apparel industry and generates income for participants.

The "Spool" project aims to cultivate the art of making clothes for this group of women. The plan will also be supported by psychosocial services from the Living Water community.

Grants from the Digicel Foundation facilitate the purchase of apparel manufacturing equipment. The funds cover the cost of two pods, including commercial sewing equipment and basic materials for the apparel industry, such as industrial overlock sewing machines, industrial straight sewing machines, mini electric cutting machines, industrial steamers, and industrial irons. In addition, it also includes sewing accessories, such as thread, tailor's chalk, scissors, pin cushions, storage containers, etc.

Together WI is a non-profit organization managed by fashion designers Anya Ayoung-Chee and Hasani Wattley. The non-profit organization is part of a broader program that aims to support marginalized women by developing skills in this income-generating sector.
